How Much Does It Cost To Sell Your Home?
Sellers might not know that it costs to sell your home. The seller costs vary but, we can break them down into three categories: prepping your house for sale, hiring a realtor, and closing costs.
Prepping Your Home For Sale:
Giving your home a mini-makeover is perfect for getting your home ready to go on the market. The renovations can be small like painting the front door, updating the light fixtures, or replacing broken cabinet hardware. Larger renovations can be installing new carpet, new roofing or siding. Don’t forget curb appeal! Window washing, landscaping, and resurfacing the driveway really make the difference.
Hiring A Realtor:
Hiring the right realtor is extremely important. When you hire a realtor you agree to pay their commission rate, so that you are represented correctly through the entire selling process. If the buyers have an agent, the seller pays the listing agents commission then the listing agent pays the buyers agent’s commission.
The listing agent is also responsible for the marketing and promotions of the home. The realtor is in charge of any flyers, open houses, videos, and more to make sure that your home sells.
The closing costs range from 2 and 5 percent of the home purchase price. Buyers are usually responsible for closing costs, but during the negotiating the seller might end up paying. Sellers can decide if they want to accept an offer that has the seller pay the closings costs, sellers may also want to wait for a buyer that will pay the closing costs.
